PET写作试卷总共分为3部分，和阅读一起一共一个半小时，阅读的推荐完成时间是50分钟到60分钟，所以写作的时间就应该是30到40分钟啦。
写作的第一部分5道题，5分，主要考察的是大家的PET语法方面的硬性知识，举例来说，比较级和最高级，被动语态，间接引语这三个语法几乎是每场考试的必考之处。
写作的第二部分小作文，5分，主要考察的是大家在不同的语言环境下面所能表现的不同的沟通技巧，比如道歉，表达感谢，安排约会等日常交流语言表达的能力。你需要明确完成三点所给任务。
写作第三部分大作文，15分，一共有两个选项，分别是写信和写故事。如果你选择写故事需要用到的连续的过去式，还要在短短的时间里就设计出故事的情节，是比较有挑战的。所以老师们一般的建议是写信。
你首先会看到你的朋友给你写的信的一部分，里面会向你提出两到三个问题。而你只需要在自己的回信中回答朋友的问题就可以达到要求，如果能用表达能力更强的结构（定语从句，被动语态，完成时等），就很有可能在写作部分拿到优秀。
