相信PET作文一直是众多考生的痛点。简单的文章还能够靠相对固定的句型来保证表达的可读性；但对思辨性的主题而言，很多之前英语程度还不错的同学，想要得到高分也很困难。
语法延伸
语法延伸也就是在语法的层面上，多加一些结构，从而使自己的句子获得更多的信息。我们可以使用添加形容词副词/介词短语/从句/连接词等办法，增加句子的可读性。这样我们在文章的Grammatical Range and Accuracy，Lexical Resource，Coherence and Cohesion 几项上都可以有更好的表现。
以一个非常简单的句子“He is a good teacher”为例。我们可以：
添加或替换形容词副词
Good这个词不仅仅是过于简单，而且也过于宽泛了。当我们想形容一个老师好，那究竟是想说他学识渊博呢，还是经验丰富呢；是说他风趣幽默呢，还是耐心体贴呢；所以在这里我们完全可以用humorous/ patient/ qualified/ experienced 这些词来代替good.
因此可以修改成：He is a highly qualified teacher。
当然，如果你只是想在中心句总结某样观点很好（sth. is good）。我们也可以提供多样的关于good的表达，如
be advantageous to..
bring benefits to…
be conducive to…
be wholesome to…
have far-reaching/ positive influences on…
positively help people to do…
添加介词短语
仅仅是添加替换一些词仍然不能达到满意的效果，那么我们就可以添加with/of/for/in引导的一些介词短语。这样我们可以把以上这个句子改为：
He is a highly qualified teacher with abundant teaching experience./ He is a highly qualified teacher with abundant teaching experiencein three prestigious colleges.
添加从句
我们还可以试着添加一些从句，可以从常用的定语从句状语从句入手。如：
He is a highly qualified teacher with abundant teaching experience in three prestigious collegesthat are famous for their advanced academic research in this field.
添加连接词
这一点就非常简单，利用and,so, while等结构把两个句子和成一个并列句。
He is a highly qualified teacher with abundant teaching experience in three prestigious colleges that are famous for their advanced academic research in this field,somany students have the greatest respect for him.
理论上这个句子可以通过添加这些成分而无限延长，老师就有学生因为学到了这种方法得到了无限的快乐，总把一个句子写到五六行长。明确指出，这样也很不好哈！因为首先句子太长可读性会降低；二是句子套句子很多同学容易出现语法错误；三是我们合理使用语法结构表达我们要表达的核心意思即可，过于啰嗦反而会让你的文章看起来不知所云。
