新版PET写作考试总分为25分，考试时长45分钟，共包含2个部分。
跟旧版相比，新版写作取消了句型转换题，难度也有所增加，主要体现在应用文写作部分的字数要求由35-45字提高到100字，变成了大作文；创意写作部分的文体也由信件改成文章或故事二选一，这要求孩子掌握不同体裁的特点以及更高的写作能力。
